1. Overview
CardStack ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what limited information we collect when you visit cardstack.ca and how it is used. The Site is informational and does not require an account.
2. Information we do not collect
- We do not ask you to create an account or sign in.
- We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or financial details.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers.
- We do not display third-party advertising on the Site.
3. Spending assumptions stay on your device
When you adjust spending categories, point values, or other inputs to personalize the ranking, those assumptions are saved in your browser's local storage. They are not transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser data will remove them.
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-24PHPJ9WFM), a web-analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as:
- Pages viewed and time spent on each page
- Referring website and approximate geographic location (country / region)
- Device type, browser, operating system, and screen size
- A truncated IP address (Google anonymizes IPs by default in GA4)
- A randomly generated client identifier stored in cookies
We use this data only to measure traffic patterns and improve the Site. Google processes this data on our behalf as a data processor. For information on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies
The Site uses cookies set by Google Analytics, primarily _ga and _ga_<container-id>, to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. These cookies typically expire after up to two years. The Site also uses your browser's local storage to remember your spending assumptions, as described above.
6. Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site will continue to function; only the analytics data we receive will be affected.
- Install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to opt out of measurement on every site that uses Google Analytics.
- Enable "Do Not Track" or a tracking-protection feature in your browser.
- Clear your browser's local storage to remove your saved spending assumptions.
7. Data retention and security
Aggregate analytics data is retained by Google according to the retention period configured in our Google Analytics property. We do not maintain a separate database of visitor information. We rely on industry-standard transport security (HTTPS) for all traffic to and from the Site.
8. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.
9. Canadian privacy law
We aim to handle visitor information in a manner consistent with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, including Quebec's Law 25.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
11. Contact
CardStack does not currently operate a public contact channel. Updates to this policy and to the Site's data practices will be communicated by changes posted to this page.
